Through the Door - Into a Tudor House

The context of this project is to introduce students to the lives of the Paston family and to place their accomplishments within the wider story of English history. The Tudor house used for this purpose is fictional, but is closely based on Oxnead Hall, which for several centuries was a family home of the Pastons.

We're putting together on this page a range of classroom resources, trialled in the upper years of primary education. The Teacher's Handbook provides the background details and lesson guidance; other folders contain materials you might need and information on further resources. You'll also find throughout this website materials for use - and other elements of the Paston story which you might like to develop for classroom use.

1. A Teacher's Handbook Teachers Handbook.pdf - 3MbThe Paston Family through History - 3Mb.

2. A zipped folder containing Appendix 1.zip - 77MbAppendix 1 - 77Mb. This contains a Powerpoint presentation about the 'door', and other support documents. If you're not familiiar with zipped files, download the folder, double click on the folder and it will unzip and open - then move the unzipped files into another folder for use. This is a large folder because of the Powerpoint presentation.

3. A zipped folder containing Appendices 2-5.zip - 57MbAppendices 2-5 - 57Mb. Follow the instructions above to unzip the folder. You'll find a further range of materials linked to the references to the Appendices in the Teacher's Handbook.

4. This time the zipped folder contains Appendices 6-11.zip - 73MbAppendices 6-11 - 73Mb, again cross-referenced from the Teacher's Handbook.
