To my right worshipful husband Jon Paston, be this delivered in haste.
Right worshipful husband, I recommend me to you, desiring heartily to her of your welfare, preying you to wait that I have spoke with my Lady Felbrigg of that you bade me speak to her of, and she said plainly to me that she would not, no never was advised, neither to let the Lord Moleyns no no other to have there intents as for that matter, while yet she lives. And she was right evil paid with Sawtr that he should report as it was told you that he should have reported; and she made right much of you, and said that she would not that no servant of hers should report no thing that should be against you other wise than she willed that your servants should do or say against her; and if other your servants did against her, or any of her against you, she would that it should be reformyd be twyx you and her, and that you might [be/been] all on; for she said in good faith she desires your friendship; and as for the report of Sawtr, she said she supposed that he would not report so; and if she might know that he did, she would blame him therefore. I told her that it was told me syth that you reden, and that it grieved me more that the said Sawtr should report as he did than it had be reported of another, in als much as I had awgth him goodwill before; and she prayid me that I should not believe such reports until I knew the truth.
I was at Toppys at dinner on Saint Peters day; there my Lady Felbrigg and other gentle women desired to have had you there. They said they should all have been the merrier if you had [be/been] there. My cousin Toppys has much car until she her good tidings of her brotheris matter. Sche told me that they should kept a day on Monday next coming be twyx her brother and Sir Andrew Hugard and Wyndham. I pray you send me word how they speed, and how you speed in your own matters also. Also I pray you heartily that you will send me a pot with treacle in haste; for I have [be/been] right evil at ease, and your daughter both, syth that you yeden hence, and on of the tallest young men of this parish lyth syke and has a greet myrr'. How he shall do God knows. I have sent [mine/my] uncle Berney the pot with treacle that you did bey for him. [mine/my] aunt recommends her to you, and prayith you to do for her as the bill makes mention of that I send you with this letter, and as you think best for to do therein.
Sir Henry Inglose is passed to God this night, hoys soul God asoyll, and was carried forth this day at ix. of the clock to Saint Faiths, and there shall be buried. If you desire to bey any of his stuff, I pray you send me word thereof in haste, and I shall speak to Robert Inglose and to Wichingham thereof; I suppose they [be/been] executors. The blessed Trinity have you in his keeping. Written at Norwich in haste on the Thursday next after Saint Peter.
I pray you trust not to the sheriff for no fair language.

To my right worshipful husband John Paston, to be delivered quickly.
Dearest husband, my best wishes to you, longing to hear of how you are and letting you know that I have spoken with Lady Felbrigg about what you asked me to mention, and she said straightforwardly to me that she would not, and was never advised so to do, neither to let Lord Moleyns or any other to have their way in the matter, as long as she lived. And she was very angry with Sawtr, that he should have said what you were told he said; she she spoke well of you and said that she would not have any servant of hers report anything that was against you, any more than she wished any of your servants to say anything against her; and also if your servants said anything against here or any of her servants against you, she wished that it would be settled between you and her, and that you and she should get on, for she said she truly deserves your friendship and as for the report given by Sawtr, she said she thought he wouldn't speak thus if she found that he did, she would blame him for it. I told her that I was told since you went and that it grieved me more that the said Sawtr should speak as he did that it be reported about another person, in as much as I had always thought well of him previously; she asked that I did not believe such reports until I knew the truth.
I was at Toppes' for dinner on St. Peter's Day: Lady Felbrigg and other gentlewomen would have liked you to be there. They said they would have been all the merrier if you had been present. My cousin Toppes has much concern until she has good news of her brother's matter. She told me that there would be a meeting next Monday between her brother and Sir Andrew Hugard and Wyndham. Please send me word how they get on, and how you get on in your own matters as well. I'd also ask that you send me a pot of treacle as soon as possible, for I have been very worried, as have both your daughters, since you left here, and one of the fittest young men of the parish lies sick and has a great infection of the nose and throat. How he will get on God only knows. I have sent my uncle, Berney, the pot of treacle you bought for him. My aunt asks to be remembered to you, and asks you to do for here what the document says that I send with this letter; do whatever you think best.
Sir Henry Inglose died last night, God absolve his soul, and was taken at nine o'clock this morning to St. Faith's, to be buried there. If you wish to buy any of his possessions, Please send me word quickly and I'll speak to Robert Inglose and to Witchingham about them; I believe they are the executors. The blessed Trinity have you in his keeping. Written in Norwich in haste on the Tuesday after St. Peter's Day.
Don't trust the sheriff to say anything good.
Yours, M.P.
